Montcuq-en-Quercy-Blanc perches on its hilltop in the heart of the Quercy Blanc, a sun-drenched land where melons, lavender, sunflowers and vines grow effortlessly.
This little village owes much of its fame to its name, which has been making the French laugh for decades! Montcuq shot to national stardom in 1976, when comedian Daniel Prévost featured it on the cult TV show Le Petit Rapporteur, playfully — and mercilessly — punning on its name. The joke put Montcuq on the map and turned it into one of France's most famously photographed village signs!
But while visitors may come out of curiosity, eager to see the celebrated village and snap a picture in front of its sign, they stay for something else entirely: the gentle art of living that Montcuq has mastered.
